Surfing the Atlantic waves

The beaches of the Wild Southwest are highly popular amongst surfers, and are some of the finest in the country. There is a tremendous variety – long stretches of sand or small beaches nestled between the cliffs and rocks. If you have the energy and desire to stray from the beaten track, albeit with difficult access, it is possible to discover many other little known beaches. As they are all situated in the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejana e Costa Vincentina, a national park, the coastline remains totally unspoilt. Rough tracks lead down to pristine beaches - some of them with heavy beach breaks unknown to many. The suns shines through much of the winter making it a surfers' paradise.World class surfing events are held in the Parque do Vincente – a stunning nature reserve. Meet fellow enthusiasts on the long, sandy empty beaches or learn to surf. See On the beach for more information on the coastal resorts and beaches. This coastline attracts hardcore and dedicated surfers, a controversial break and several surf camps.

A different way to discover this part of Portugal is from a kayak or canoe. You can drift down a river, having a picnic on a riverbank and enjoy the nature from another perspective. If you are more adventurous you even can even go on a sea kayaking tour.
What even your choice, you should pack suncream and a hat or cap when the sun shines. Also make sure you wear clothes and shoes that you don´t mind getting wet and check if there are lifejackets provided with the canoes.

Kayak along the beautiful river Mira that flows through the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vincentina. We want you to share our passsion for nature either with a custom made program or just as it comes.

We are close to some of the best beaches on the west coast and also offer other activities including walking the Rota Vincentina, yoga and surfing.
